I need to put in the gender radio button list, I tried the two option sets with radio button when changing the properties, but that didnt worked

Did you tried changing field Properties
After changing control formatting, save your entity form and make sure you published your customization.
Then refresh / re-open CRM application in browser.

in your scenario it happens because the form is shown using the new UI, radio buttons were available inside classic ui but not in the new one.
An alternative is to use a PCF control, inside the gallery you can find some examples of controls that can be attached to a Two Options field:
