    RE: View Type:: Associated view

    Hi Sushil,

    An Associated View is a list of the records associated with a record e.g.  It can either show the N side of a 1:N relationship (the child records associated with a parent record) or the N of a N:N relationship between record types.

    It is one of the 6 OOTB view types that are automatically generated by Microsoft for any entity that is created (and is there for all the OOTB entities).

    You can update what is shown on an associated view by going to: Settings>Customizations>Customize the System>Entities>the name of the entity> views > associated view

    What else are you unsure about?

    Hi Sushil,

    Associated Views allow displaying of related entities fields.

    Refer the following blog:

    stackoverflow.com/.../how-to-set-associated-view-as-default-view-in-crm-2013

    mscrmonline.wordpress.com/.../associated-views-adding-related-entity-columns-supported-in-microsoft-dynamics-crm-2011

    Hope this helps.

    Hi,

    One more question on it....

    Why I am not able to see those associated view in home page? For example in Account entity we have Account Associated View, why I am not able to get this view in home page of account.

    because as mscrmba wrote:

    "It can either show the N side of a 1:N relationship (the child records associated with a parent record) or the N of a N:N relationship between record types."

    Inside the homepage you don't have a primary/parent record selected, so it's not possible to show there the associated views.

    Hi Sushil,

    It only makes sense when it is seen in the context of another record - i.e. you first have to define what the records are associated with to be able to run that particular view.  So it makes no sense to try to run it across all accounts.

    Instead e.g. it is a view that shows all the sub-accounts associated with an specified account.

    Sushil,

    As per its name, ' "Associated" View'

    It is a view to show all ASSOCIATED record of an entity record.

    Because it is to show the associated record for a record only,

    The view can only be seen if you are in the Account form (for example) and then you will see this view, this view is located in the form, navigation (arranged in left one by form editor), but in the UI it is after you click the chevron (on top), when you open it you will see the related record.

    As we know CRM has relationship, this associated view is to accommodate you to see the related record, either 1:N (parent child) or N:N

    Hope this helps you.

    Thanks.

    Sushil,

    What kind of detail info you need?

    I have topic subgrid vs associated view here

    missdynamicscrm.blogspot.sg/.../crm-2013-subgrid-vs-expanded-associated-view-records.html

    And you might need also to read this one to add another column

    Thanks.

    RE: View Type:: Associated view

    Hi Aileen... do you know if it is possible to use the associated view on a subgrid for an N:N relationship? E.g. Account has an N:N to Account... in the subgrid I want to show those associated accounts but b/c this is N:N, you don't even get the little Associated records icon next to the + sign at the top of the subgrid.  All that said, the functionality works, the records just disappear b/c the view isn't right.

    Thanks!
