But i have some doublts. What happens to the remaining inventory items in both cases(close or complete)

I want to move the remaining inventory items allocted for that MO back to the inventory-available qty.  Will it happen automatically...?

How to do it Perfectly. I am new to Dynamics GP. Can Any one Explain please...

RE: close/complete partially received manufacturing order

Richard, hope you are having a good day.  I have a quick question in regard to the above.  I have an MO that is completed for 1 item.  The Item is serial lot tracked.  I want to reuse the MO and serial number because the item is going to be reused as a warranty item.  Would love to here your advice on this...

This is all covered in our book Shop Operations with MS Dynamics GP.  Here is a summary of what happens.

If items are only allocated to the MO, there is no issue.  The allocations will be released.

If items were issued that have not been consumed (and should not be consumed) and back flush is not marked for these items,  a reverse issue should be performed to return them to inventory BEFORE the MO is closed.  If you do not return the items, the results depend on the valuation method of the finished item.  Some will create variance postings while others will adjust the current cost.

Completing an MO means simply that you have manufactured all or more of the planned quantity.  For example, if the MO is for 100 pieces and you receive 100 or more, the MO will be completed.  But you can always report additional transactions against a completed MO.  Once you close the MO, variances will be posted and no further transactions can be posted.  Also, you cannot re-open a closed MO.

You ‘d better select close MO if you won’t process any MO receipt for those MOs. When you close those MOs, please make sure you can not select calculation option as start quantity. As soon as MO is closed, the remaining allocated quantity for that MO will be back to quantity available. If you just change status to complete, the remaining allocated quantity for that MO won’t back to quantity available.
