Mass Data Updating

Hello,

A challenge I face at the moment is a question of mass data updating. Due to the size of the record data that must update, doing each record by hand or by a team is not entirely feasible.

We're often looking at updating one or two fields, such as number of calls or emails sent, or more prudently something like contact information. The default method in CRM 2013 appears to be manual data merging or updating each record by hand, but could something like an XML upload help update instead? An idea I've thought of but haven't been able to test yet is this: Upload an XML with the 'newer' record information and then have a Workflow pull from this new record and update the oldest (original) records with it. Once that is done, simply delete the new records by hand (Workflow automated deletion scares me so I prefer it by hand at the moment).

Would something like that be feasible? Or perhaps there is a more elegant solution I am unaware of? Thus far from what I've researched, most direct me towards buying Plugins or special software to meet these needs in the CRM. I'm not 100% certain that is the only way quite yet.

Thank you for your time.

Check this thread it may help your problem

You can select the option Records from all the pages and check the previous check box to make the data available for re-importing. I tried this, it worked for me.

    Thanks,

    Hello,

I ran into that initially but it didn't seem to meet my needs. When I exported my test data, only a few column headers were kept and none of them were information relevant to the updating.

Do I manually insert the column headers, or is there something I'm missing?

    Column headers that exported:

Lead Topic First Name Middle Name Last Name Company Name Status Reason Business Phone Email

    Here is the steps

1.Create advanced find view all the columns that you want to update.

    2.Run the Advanced find .

    3.Click on export to excel

4.Choose the option as below to export data from all pages .

    5. Update the records in excel and re-import.

    Well, isn't that magical.

Ok, that's a much simpler way to go about this than what I had been trying to piece together. My test data uploaded and updated successfully, and everything appears to be in order.

Thank you for your help on this
