Hello,

How do you restrict not allowing duplicate serial numbers to be used for the same part number?

If the serial number is already in inventory, the system checks for this.

For example, I tried to post a positive adjustment for the same item/serial no. and I received the following message

What if we have Specific SN Tracking turned Off?

We are only assigning the serial at the time of Manufacture on production orders.

I think Specific SN Tracking is on by default. But if it is off, BC still check if duplicate no. are used.

SN Specific Tracking needs to be turned on. If its off, you will be able to post duplicate serial numbers.

I think Specific SN Tracking is on by default. But if it is off, BC still check if duplicate no. are used.

No, if its off BC will not check.

I don't think it's possible by default, but you can develop a custom routine to check Serial No. is already used or not.
