Session Host for Web client recommendations

Hi - hope someone can help...  We have 3 Terminal servers running RemoteApp service for GP 2013R2, and looking to add the Web Client.  Not having any experience with Web based application resource utilization, I need some advice on moving forward.  The install instructions allow for single machine and scale out, but regardless, it talks about a Session Service host machine.  I have an internal IIS server hosting Sharepoint and 1 other website (not often used).  GP databases are on a SQL Server and is a seperate vm, with 3 terminal servers serving a RemoteApp GP to my users.  In enabling Web Client - should I use "scale out"?  Do I need a seperate Session Service host machine or can I just use my IIS Server as both Web server and Session Service, or, can I use my terminal servers also as Web session service hosts?  The web interface will be used by minimal users (<10) for full GP use, and about 30 users for timecards.  Any advice or experiences doing this is appreciated!!

Thank you,

Bill

With that many users, you probably don't need more than 1 web server. Web Client is an IIS application that connects to the GP code via the "Runtime" process. This means GP has to be installed on your IIS server, or you install IIS on one of your GP servers. As long as your IIS server meets the requirements, you can use that server.

Awesome - thanks!  Do you think that installing the web client on one of the terminal servers (serving 10-15 people at any given time, all heavy users) would crush the term server?

    Bill,  your call.

I would install GP (and related web components on your existing IIS web server if you only intend to have 10 folks use the web client.  I presume you are on GP2016 as this is a much better web client than earlier versions

Performance may not be an issue but trust me for your own sanity and performing any kind of upgrade/maintenance or just good old troubleshooting I would never mix app and web servers.

Also, if you have any ISV products, check with them to ensure they work with web client.  Mekorma MICR (check printing) for one is not supported.  And so, don't install those products on the webserver.  Only install the modules those web client users will use.
