Departments and Categories

Hello-we are new to RMS and have some questions about setting up departments and categories.  We are a sporting goods store and sell to retail and team.  We were looking at setting up a team department with categories for each sport and a retail department with categories by line (shoes, apparel, equipment, etc....).  But in this approach it looks like we'd have to enter many items twice, since some items are sold to team and to retial customers.  What would the better way to set it up be?  Is there a document on setting up dept and categories?

    Its not good methord to group item based on your customer type. Its always better to group your customer based on its speciality.

    Thanks!  Would you mind explaing that in more detail?  We are a sporting goods store and sell to Retail and Team (items can exists on both sides).  How would you recommend setting it up?
