How can I assign a security role to an Access Team?

Hello,

I have multiple access teams that belong to different business units. How can I assign security roles for each of those teams. This option seems to only be available for owner teams. If that's the case, it is counterintuitive to have a team type called 'Access' team...

I need to do so and not create owner teams because as our users start assigning records, the number of owner teams that show as options to be assigned to are overwhelming them.

Thank you in advance.

Access Teams and Owner teams perform two separate functions in the environment.

    1.  Owner Teams - Can own records, and membership in the team allow users to inherit security permissions. It is helpful to note that every business unit in your application has a default owner team associated to it
    2.  Access Teams - Work as an exception to the standard security model and process by giving users a way to manually add or remove access/permissions to an individual record

In this situation, the Access Team is there to give someone in Business Unit A access to an individual record in Business Unit B. The user can't see or do anything else to the other records in Business Unit B if the security roles don't allow it. The Access Team is an exception, not the rule. It has the added benefit of allowing the user to add multiple people to the Access Team, whereas you can only ever have a single true 'Owner' of a record. Think of it as a 'Share' button in other MS products.

Permissions given to users in an access team are controlled through the Access Team Templates and are specific to the table that the Access Team is being created for.

There are a ton of intricacies and ways that you can set up security in Dataverse, so I would recommend reviewing Business Units, Security Roles, Teams, and then your business requirements and process flow to understand what reassigning a record is meant to do.
