How to Block warehouse location for Sales orders like Return Bins

Hello Everyone,

I want to how I can block a specific location to sell from.

For eg I have a return bins and we have a product sitting in that bin and this bin is part of our warehouse inventory. How I can exclude this warehouse bin to sell.

We are using Advance Warehouse Management.

Help will be appreciated.

Hi Kartik,

Do you try to use inventory blocking feature? The path is Inventory management > Periodic tasks > Inventory blocking

Hell MATTGUO,

Thank you for the help. I tried this, but this blocking is at the item level. I am looking to block the location so that when we receive the sales order system should not reserve the inventory from the particular location.

Is there a way if we can auto reserve all the inventory sitting in particular location? This work around can also help me to not to sell from the Return Bin.

Hello Saurabh,

Thanks for the reply. I looked into that but it did not work out. The challenge I can see here is in Advance Warehouse Management you cant block the location to create output work. Only way you have is under return location but that only work for retail where you can setup the blocking by the location.

temporary work around in adv warehouse, use inventory status and adjust inventory status to 'blocking' type

Hello Kartik, you can do this by adding this location with ! in location directive picking query. Which should avoid picking from such locations we have similar setup in our warehouse where we do not pick or allocate stock from Returns Location

Hi Kartik,

Using Inventory status seems the most sensible idea to me. You need to set the status of the Inventory that should not be picked to something that is not used on your Sales orders. For example, you could create an Inventory status called Inspection, or Returns, or something similar. You can set this status to Blocking if you wish. Then you need to ensure any inventory which is in the Returns location has this status. An easy way to ensure this is to configure the Inventory status change periodic job to set any inventory in the Returns location to the Status = Inspection (or Returns, or whatever). You can configure the Job to run, say, every 5 minutes. Or, perhaps if you are already using the Automatic release of sales orders job to reserve inventory to your sales orders, you can set it to run immediately before that.
