Hi All,

Scenario is i am migrating data's from xyz ERP system to Dynamic GP 2015.

I am migrating data into GP 's new company. Now problems is that i am confused about the data, how many years data sholud be migrate and should I migrate all
open GL data , AP & AR trx data [Credit memo & Invoice data] ? or should all data be migrate incuding cash recipt and payments?

Please guide me which is the best way for migrating data? my thinking is that
keep the old system running in corner or print out enough reports in case need, after a year or later no one is going to care about the old system(am i right)? and unplug/discontinue the old system at that point.

Please help me on this. I am waiting for best way to migrate data into a new System.

    Hi,
    Whenever I do a migration,
1-- I import the master files (inventory, customers, vendors, employees, fixed assets, etc..
2-- I grab as many years of the GL History as the client wants. I either get all of the journal entry detail or just a monthly summary entry (one entry per month). If they just need the whole year for comparison purposes or they want to do it later, I import the year into a budget. I then use the budget as the historical year.
3-- I bring over all of the outstanding transactions - Open Payables and Receivables, Outstanding Checks, Open SOP and POP documents, etc. Sometimes I sent those items through the subledger so they will have drill-down, sometimes I don't. If you do send it through the subledger, be sure to adjust your GL import so you don't pick up the values twice.
4-- I do not ever import historical transaction data for AP, AR, SOP, POP, etc. (unless it's coming from QuickBooks). If they are dead set on getting history, tell them they can do it later, they never do it. They don't pay me to do it either, that's an estimate so high you can barely count the zeros.
5-- As far as the old system. I would keep it available for as long as they still need it. Eventually they won't need it. I wouldn't print a massive list of reports, who needs all of that paper?
6-- If you have never done this kind of thing before, get help from an experienced partner. This isn't the kind of thing you can do correctly your first time out.
That's what I can think of off of the top of my head.
    Kind regards,
    Leslie
