Site map button to create a new activity

Hi all,

Does anyone know how i can create a button in the sitemap that will take a user to a new activity create record, much like how quick create works?

So on clicking a new button 'phone call' in the sitemap for example it will open up a new phone call record ready for the user to enter data?

I know i can add a button to go to 'phone calls' then click new, but i want to avoid this and go straight to a new screen.

    Hi Graeme,

take as reference following links to get idea:

You can just enter a URL for a sitemap item - it doesn't need to be a web resource like in the links (although obviously it can be).  You can form a URL to go directly to any entity in something like this format:  https://<orgurl>/main.aspx?etn=phonecall&pagetype=entityrecord  , to go to a new phone call.  More info on the syntax of how to form these links here:  docs.microsoft.com/.../gg328483(v=crm.8)

(It's marked for a previous version, but it still works just like this in 9.1.)

Thanks Alison, however i have tried this and when we login with the mobile app it pops up in a browser window taking you away form the app, would really like the solution it to work in both web and mobile versions.

Hmmm...interesting.  This post seems to address this, or something similar:  www.inogic.com/.../deep-linking-for-dynamics-crm-tablet-client

Looks like the link is generated differently for the mobile client.  So at a guess - you'd need to figure out what your URLs are for each, and then maybe have your sitemap button open a webresource that uses JS to ascertain what client is being used and then open the correctly formatted URL?

    Hi Graeme,

Not for SiteMap, but I've put a ribbon button to open a new activity. See if it might help you out of context.

You can refer my blog on the same - d365demystified.com/.../create-a-new-record-button-for-activity-type-entity-using-ribbon-workbench-d365
