Hi:

I have VS Code installed on my laptop.  Someone sent me an extension that displays in this code.

After copying and pasting into VS Code, how do I install it as an extension within Business Central?

Thanks!

John

    Hi, Extracted from MS Learn

    https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/learn/modules/introduction-development-process/

    Set up a sandbox environment

To set up a sandbox environment, follow these steps:

    1. Sign up for a Dynamics 365 Business Central sandbox.

    2. Download Visual Studio Code.

    3. Download the AL Language extension.

    4. Press the Alt+A, Alt+L shortcut keys to trigger the AL Go! command, and then choose a path to a new empty folder and the version to run.

    5. Select Microsoft cloud sandbox as the server.

    6. Enter the credentials that you provided during signup.

    7. Press the F5 key to deploy and run the extension on your online sandbox tenant.

You now have a HelloWorld sample that compiles and runs.

    8. The JSON files in the project are automatically updated with the settings that allow you to press the F5 key to build and deploy the solution.

    Hope this will help.

    THanks.

    ZHU

    Hello John,

You must open that extension folder in VS code, press CTRL+ALT + P and type 'Download symbols' and press enter.

After symbols are downloaded, press the same command as above and press CTRL+ALT + B to build the extension and again type for 'Publish without Debugging' and press enter.

    Bingo, extension deployed!

    Thanks,
