RE: How is Planning Time Fence working?

    Example:

You have create a manufacturing item with 5 days planning time fence with Quantity On Hand is zero and aloso  create a sales order for this item with 10 quantity.

If you run the MRP regenration today(27Mar2014), the shortage for this item will be calculated and planned MRP order will be created for this finished item. But, the due/release date for this manufacturing order is next day of planning time fence end date(01Apr2014) .So, the finished goods will be ready on sixth day (1Apr2014).

Right now I don't have manufacturing module registration. Create a sample scenario for above example and let me know if you need any help regarding the same.

I have explained the above scenario based on my understanding. Don't hesitate to inform me if any of my point is wrong.

Note: Before using Planning Time Fence for manufacturing, you need to mark the Activate Planning Time Fence option in MRP Preference Default window(Tools-->Setup-->Manufacturing-->System-->Defaults-->MRP).

    Hope this helps!!!

Before using Planning Time Fence for manufacturing, you need to mark the Activate Planning Time Fence option in MRP Preference Default window(Tools-->Setup-->Manufacturing-->System-->Defaults-->MRP) to use the planning time fence information. If the option is not marked, time planning time fence information is ignored when MRP information is calculated.

    Hope this helps!!!

RE: How is Planning Time Fence working?

If you set a planning time fence for a item, the below factor will be considered while running MRP.

    1. The Orders are not suggested if the due dates fall within the fence.

    2. Orders are not suggested to be canceled, moved in, or moved out within the time fence.

    3. The release date for the manufacturing order will be the first day after the planning time fence for the item has elapsed.

For your reference: Download MfgPlanningFunctions.pdf from below link and have a look on Planning Time Fence under Chapter 8(MRP Overview).

RE: How is Planning Time Fence working?

    Richard,

Thanks for your reply. For me I have created "FG1" item with planning time fence 15 days. The available

quantity is 0. I have created Sales order for FG1 with 1 qty and required date is tomorrow(27 Mar 2014). Now, the demand for FG1 is 1 qty. Then run the MRP(Start Date is 26 Mar 2014 ) for 30 days. It suggested a manufacturing order for 1 qty.

After I have created another SO for FG1 with 1 qty and run MRP shows, same suggested MO with 2 qty. Here, how the planning time fence has affected. Please advise with this example.

    Thanks,

RE: How is Planning Time Fence working?

When MRP runs, it deletes all planned orders unless there is a time fence.  If the time fence for an item is set at 10 days, for example, then MRP will only delete planned orders more than 10 days out, leaving the near ones (ones to be processed in the next 10 days).  Any new demands for product within the time fence will result in additional replenishment recommendations.
