Effective Permissions and Posting Issues

Posted on by 45

I need help and hoping to get some assistance.

1. I am set as a Super user (shown below) yet i am not able to access and create a sales order, invoce, quote, etc.

2. We did deploy a new app extension, that we believe is causing the 2nd error - in which we were told to make sure you could modify the Sales Invoice line - that effective permission is set to Indirect - but think we need it to modify.

I had a Business Central partner look at this with me as well, and he too could not figure out why. This is our Production box (we are an ISV, so not production in the sense of a live system for our financial data, but used for demos, etc.) It still shows on version 16.1.12629.12805

I am happy to hop on a call - and will be back on line by 7:30am ET on Monday. We are in down situation in our demo envrionment.

We do also have some customers getting the posting error - we have suggested they adjust their effective permission for Sales Invoice to Modify as Yes vs Indirect if possible. Ooe customer had no issue, others get the below.

RE: Effective Permissions and Posting Issues

The permissions depend on your Business Central License.

Say, you have 4 Users to whom you have given SUPER User Permissions, but your License days otherwise. You have a Licence in which you can assign SUPER User Permissions to 2 Users. In this case, other 2 Users will get Indirect Permissions.

Similar is with the Modify Permission. If your license mentions Modify permissions for a Table for 2 Users, then the other Users will get Indirect Modify Permission. So always take your License Information in consideration for setting User Permissions and priorities the same.

    Hopefully, this helps you understand.

RE: Effective Permissions and Posting Issues

I have resolved my issue with being able to enter an order, etc.

however, i still have questions around effective permisssions, and would like to understand more around the permissions associated to Sales Invoice line, and if modify can be set other than indirect.

I am set as a super user, but cannot post through to an invoice.

This may be something specific to our extension - so need to guide our development team.
