Full MRP and Item MRP

Hello,

Is that normal to have different results with the full MRP (night batch) and the item mrp ?

We created a sales order for a manufactured item. After a full mrp run, the system does not generate production planned order. When the item MRP runs manually, a production planned order is created.

Is that depending on MRP setup?

Thank you

This is common behavior in D365FO.

Item MRP is more aggressive and often ignores some constraints (like time fences, coverage group settings, etc.), while the full Master Planning run respects all global parameters.

    Common causes:

    • Coverage group settings (Requirement for = Period)

    • Firming / Freeze time fence

    • Different Master Plan parameters between batch and manual run

    •

Can you check the item's Coverage group and the Master Plan used in the batch job?

    Happy to help further.

Yes, the behavior can depend on the MRP setup and planning parameters, and reviewing the master planning configuration would be the first place to investigate.
