Item History Inquiry screen does not reflect true numbers for sales Qty

When I go to Item inquiry for Inventory and then do Item History, I see the numbers in Current year/ Last year boxes ( Sales Qty, Sales Cost and Sales amoount) not reflecting true numbers (SUM) from the number from bottom monthly sales numbers and can also be modified .

I am expecting and assuming that top 6 boxes should show me the aggregation/sum of numbers at the bottom; not that anyone can change these numbers amking up own Totals.

Why is that ?

    Cilck the Help button when in this window - I think reading Help will assist you in understanding the data displayed in the window.

    Dear Frank, Thank for your reply but,

    That is my question. What I am expecting to see is;  that under current year I should see the Total Sales, let's say until today and then I can compare it with previous year.

    Why would I bother to enter the sales # by myself and how? How do I know what I sold and how much,  out of my 6,000 products and what is the benefit of using an ERP if I had to calculate and input manually.

    Last but not least what I see until is 72 item sold where as if see under Month of January  it show me 176 and 86 for Feb where I have never touch the number on top and I don't want to.

    am I looking at wrong place for what I am looking for ?

    You're provided the option to enter historical information in the window in case you're moving from a legacy system to GP so that you can see prior years' data in GP.  I'm not sure why GP doesn't provide a separate Inquiry window that you can't update so you can maintain the integrity of the data.

    Again, I suggest you read the Help files if you haven't had a chance to so you have a very complete understanding of the data displayed in this window and how it's calculated.  It could be you're looking at a different period in the Current window above than what is being displayed in the lower scrolling window.

    The numbers in the History will only show you accurate numbers if you have done an Inventory year end close. If the inventory year end is not close the sales are combined from last year and this year. Also you can chose the view the Sales Report- SOP Document Analysis. This will allow you to see sales by  any Date Range or by Item range.
