Hi, Chris, I will be happy to do the work for you. No worries, I have been doing this for twenty years and can solve your issue quickly. I didn't get your pic, please send it again to jerry@jrdata.us. For me this is not a hobby, I have RMS clients in a dozen countries, and am a legit programmer and implementer.
Thanks!

Hi.
OK, again, you want to use SQL 2008 or 2012. Completely remove the 2005 version (if you use a dos prompt use can use the /upgrade=1 switch, but I think a complete removal is better. get to the Microsoft download center and look up sql 2008 express or 2012 express, they both are fine and will run on windows 10. Also I recommend the sql management studio as it is a handy tool. Don't forget to use the right version, 32 or 64 bit. You will also need to run the backwards compatability
tool, SQLServer2005_BC or SQLServer2005_BC_x64. Then install RMS, when it comes to the sql thing choose skip.
Hope that helped. If you get lost I can tv in for you and do it. I will bill you for that though. ..

Hi Chris,
Hope you were able to fix the issues with the help of Gerald. If not , let us know the details, we can help you to fix the errors.
Gerald,
I have built a Windows 10 box and have installed SQL Express 5 and 8r2 using the express management console . I am running into the error of a mismatch that I believe I sent you the picture and also the versions. I am very new to RMS and really need some support as I see you are more than qualified to provide. I understand that you do this out of a hobby and fun. We would be willing to pay for your time to login remotely and fix the few bugs we are presented with. Would this be an option? Please let me know ASAP.
Thank you,
Chris
Robert
Thanks for the info.
What about the file path for SQL express 2005 to SQL express 2008 R2 SP3. Also having a hard time finding the proper SQL files from the Microsoft site.
Thanks for the help.
Danny
In the end we are forgetting two things.
First, you should keep up your tech support for many reasons, and one is to have access to the latest incarnations of RMS.
Second, Windows XP? Seriously? With all due respect, you are running your business on a computer that is how old?
Hard drives don't last that long, and I don't know about you guys but I also have a retail store and if my register went down
it would be a problem. I even have another machine ready to swap. Not fancy ones, mind you. But you can get a pretty good
reconditioned computer from tigerdirect or newegg (or many other places, I'm sure) that are a lot cheaper than your time spent
trying to make old stuff work.
Last is the old machines won't have enough horsepower to run new things like the latest SQL edition, etc., etc.
Just sayin'.
I believe he states express not full.
You were correct about the downgrade part however nice catch.
Not sure there is an upgrade path from Windows XP to Windows 10 that I've heard of?
Actually, SQL 2012 Express is not recommended for use on any RMS version before RMS 2.0.2020. I believe if you review the hot fix list, you will find that an issue preventing RMS users from backing up (who were on SQL or attempted to use SQL 2012 Express) was recently corrected by that hotfix.
Since both 2008 R2 Express SP 3 and SQL 2012 Express both have a database capacity cap of 10 GB I believe most experienced installers who preferred not to experience difficulties with backups up until now, only installed SQL 2008 R2 Express SP 3.
The file path by the way from 0 to RMS 2.0.2020 the most recent version is only 4 files
(there is nothing in between - no service packs or feature packs are required).
1. RMS 2.0 Setup = 2.0.0105
2. RMS CU 5 = 2.0.2000
3.RMS CU 5 Help Files
4. Hot fix 60 = 2.0.2020
Hope this helps.
Cheers
When you upgraded to RMS 2.0, did you log into Store Operations Administrator and upgrade the database?
Please also note that SQL 2005 is not compatible with Windows 10.
