Archiving Purchase Orders for Changing Valuation Method

Hi:

The Microsoft Learn document shown below is very informative and outlines the necessary steps, for changing the inventory valuation method of an item.

If the only transactions for an item in Business Central are Purchase Orders where partial quantity of the item is never going to be received, could you simply archive that purchase order and then change the valuation method on the Item Card in lieu of taking these steps?

Thanks!

John

I don't think its good idea to change costing method to existing one. You create new item number with renumbering

Identify the items to change the costing method for and renumber them

You may want to give your new items the same numbers as those they are replacing. To do that, change the numbers of the existing items. For example, if the existing item number is "P1000," you might change it to "X-P1000." This is a manual change that you must make for each item.
