SQL 2012 Keys

So I am kicking myself right now as I am in need of SQL Server 2012 Keys to run a test and fix problem for a client that has not migrated to SQL 2014.

It was only 4 months ago by my records that I tossed my version of SQL 2012 and the Keys from our partner download site.  Now, for the life of me I can not find a set of keys and the SQL 2012 I am installing will allow me to have the Evaluation key, but when I start SQL the Software Protection platform tells me the Evaluation period is over and I can not run SQL 2012.

Any suggestions?  I am not trying to run in Production - I am running on SQL 2014 for our production as are 90% of our clients - but we have one with very demanding custom work that can not / has not moved to SQL 2014.

    Bill,

I believe either you can use SQL 2012 express edition which will not have SQL Profiler and 4 GB DB size limit i guess, or you have to have new PC/ format the old one and install the Evaluation edition. I don't know if there are other ways without keys. Developer edition is free but from 2014 onwards.

    Thanks,

Trial keys are usually good for 120 to 180 days in the MSDN or Technet libraries.. While technically there is a way of reseting them, I'm not sure if it goes against some MS license policies, as I know that for some products, the time-bomb limit has been removed due to those annoying pop-ups and blocking.

Check out this blog post if that helps : https://blog.devoworx.net/2014/08/12/evaluation-period-expired-for-sql-server-2012-how-to-extend-it/

Good comments and I think correctly stating the case for 'not doing' however in the case of TESTING an old version I think I could make the case that we are running and licensed for the next two version  after this, so not really trying to get something for nothing.  We are using SQL 2016 and have the correct licenses - so should be able to get something to run an older version.

I have by the way resolved this - I did find in an old box a Key that works for SQL2012
