Data migration between CRM Online instances

Hi everybody,

I am currently working on a CRM Online deployment and my goal is to migrate data from a production organization to a development (sandbox) instance without making a copy of the instance.

I've tried the Data Transporter plugin from XrmToolBox but I'm having some problems related to ID mapping. Let's say I have a custom entity whose ownership is defined as User (like Account or Contact). When I try to transfer data from the production environment to the development instance I got the error 'systemuser with ID = "xxx" Does Not Exist'). This is actually true since the systemuserid from the two organization isn't the same.

Any suggestions about how to overcome this issue? The Data Transporter plugin from XrmToolBox is actually powerful, so maybe I'm missing something to do the migration correctly.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Manuel Meretto

I would use Scribe Insight for that logic.
