Split work for Sales order with Single Line and Multi Lines

Hi All,

I have a requirement where I need to differenciate between SO that have single Line and SO that have multiple lines in them. This is primarily for the picking in the Warehouse. All the sales order that have single items needs to be cluster picked in zones. All the Sales order that have multiple items should be picked by a single worker for consolidation purpose.

The items gets picked and directly move to packing stations.

Has any one done anything like this before?

Kindly let me know your suggestions regarding this.

My suggestion would be to do a simple modification to flag the order as 'multi line' when line count is greater than 1. If not flagged then an order can be assumed to be a single line. Then use this field in your warehouse picking selection process.

    Hi,
I have done this requirement in slightly more complex manner where we were tasked to classify sales order based on a factor such as how many lines they contain and number of SKUs.
We also had a threshold of 5 pcs as a parameter value.
The matrix designed was as below

So, we did a customization to auto update all e-com sales order using above matrix. Once sales order was updated the information was made to flow to shipments.

After this we used waves to filter orders based on this custom field and used to use cluster picking solution or multi-SKU orders and order picking for single SKUs.
You can also play in work templates if you wish to use load planning workbench.
    Nostalgia.
Alternatively, you can try to ask your system admin to search for field Line count in the form designer from the development environment and move it to sales order header form layout.

If there are simple fields not being used, you could leverage something like the Sales pool to maintain values for Single line v multi, the enterer could apply at SO creation, then you could leverage in the Release to warehouse process for picking and controlling your work templates and location directives. This could avoid a modification by using a standard field that does not drive much logic, but otherwise, Sagar's recommendation or similar should be suitable.
