Can I use an existing form as a template so I don't have to build the form from scratch?

Hi All!

I'm struggling here and hope to get some pointers. We are using MS CRM 2011 in the cloud.  I have a pretty complicated form already in use, but I was wanting to use the same form format under another entity.

Is there any way to use a form as a template? I did not build these forms, but can modify them for the needs.

Any help, pointers would be great!

Yeah, I figured that one out. Would be nice to get that form to the entity I'm working on. I'm trying to view the original form and follow along with building my new one. Rough stuff and no documentation. Thanks for all the input! I'm just going to have to go field by field and brute force figure out what i need in little steps.

    Hi Chris,

You can duplicate a form for the same entity -- open the form and 'save as'.  But a form for a new entity would have its own fields/relationships/etc so having a 'template' would fit since each entity is usually very unique.

Well that's unfortunate. I was hoping I would not have to build this form from scratch. I still a newbie and on my own on this. Looking at the forms we have, getting, defining and creating the proper relationships is less then intuitive in CRM.

Any other suggestion? I really appreciate the input!

    HI Chris,

There is no way to use a form as a template.  However, java script can be done in a global java script file which can then be used in any form.
