"Send Email" workflow step losing dynamic fields from form assistant.

Hi all,

CRM's email editor inside the workflow editor has always been quirky but in D365 9.0 I'm unable to save email steps without losing the formatting.

For example, to create a workflow to inform a user of a new opportunity, I'd do something like this, adding the dynamic fields from the form assistant to auto-populate information about the record:

6303.workflow1.JPG

But when I activate the workflow and the email is sent, the field names in the body aren't populating. Everything in the header has the right values, but in the body the end user sees the {Owner(Opportunity)} instead of his/her name.

Furthermore if I open up the workflow to check on it, the highlight and formatting is gone, and I can't click and drag the fields around. It's all been converted to plain text:

4645.workflow2.JPG

I've tried multiple browsers and settings with no luck. I had created some workflows a month or so ago and the functionality worked (mostly) but now I can't create a single email and keep formatting. I've entered a ticket with Microsoft Support, but I'm curious if anybody else out there is seeing this issue in their 9.0 environments, or if it's somehow isolated to our instance.

And if anybody's aware of a workaround, like being able to edit the body in XML or something, I'd love to hear it!

Thanks,

Rob

    Hi,

Have you tried with Internet explorer? I had this issue once, but opening workflow in IE worked for me.

    Thanks

    Hi,

I always try different browsers when I hit this problem. I would recommend you to always use IE when dealing with workflow.

Is this specific to a single entity? I ran in to this a few times and was able workaround it by making a slight change to one of the field labels of the entity, saving and publishing customizations. It doesn't matter which field, you just need to make some change and publish the changes.

    Thanks,

    Shahid

Hi Shahid, thanks - I'll give this a shot. I'll also look into other entities. So far I've only tried it on Opportunity.

    Thanks,

    Rob
