Dynamics CRM and Gmail integration

We are implementing a Dynamics CRM on-premise solution for a customer who is a Google shop. There’s no scope for CRM Outlook client and Google Apps integration as they don't use Outlook. Has anyone got experience working on Dynamics CRM and Gmail integration? We would like to integrate e-mails and tasks between CRM and Google Mail/Calendar. Keen to know your experiences and any recommendations on the third party apps.

Hi Karth! I recently received a similar query from a prospect. Have you received a response to your question? I would be interested to hear what options are available.

    thanks!

    Hi Julian,

The plan is to use Server Side Synchronization as Gmail is one of the Supported email service configurations for server-side synchronization. However, Appointments, Tasks and Contact synchronization is not supported through server side sync for Gmail.

If your prospect uses Outlook for PC and if Gmail is configured through IMAP, then you can also consider deploying CRM Outlook client.

    Hi Karth,

First, I assume you have seen the documentation about what is and what isn't supported with server-side sync for CRM 2013: msdn.microsoft.com/.../dn531050.aspx

The issue here is the synchronisation with tasks. As far as I know CRM does well with Exchange because it uses the MAPI object model.

I reckon that the only way your requirement can be supported is either if:

    a) Microsoft adds additional protocols for calendar, tasks and contacts sync besides MAPI (e.g. CalDAV for calendards);

    b) Google Mail adds support for MAPI (very unlikely); or

    c) You use some sort of gateway between CRM and Google Mail that adds a MAPI layer that makes GMail look like Exchange. The only thing I can think off that could do this is in fact Exchange.

So I'm afraid I don't think there is an easy answer here :(

    Regards,

    P.

We tried server side synchronization unsuccessfully. Dyncamics CRM is unable to track conversation. It cannot track ( importing only emails from accounts and contact ) emails sent from the google client and it cannot track email where an account is in copy to an email.

We have been unable  to use it or to find an integration that would make the crm usable without crm outlook client.

We have the same problem. Our mail domain is hosted by Google and the CRM server is unable to track these emails.

Trying to use @gmail.com mail works flawlessy and emails get tracked correctly, but using any @ourdomain.com email does not track anyhing.

    Hi,

Yes - there is a way to integrate Dynamics CRM and Gmail. It can be done via new application named "Dynamics CRM Integration for Gmail". It currently only supports CRM Online but anyway please take a look - you might be interested in it. Its functionality is not as rich as you described by provides required minimum - emails tracking, create contacts and view tasks.

    Try application from Chrome Store

    View application on Pinpoint

    Thanks,

Dynamics CRM Integration for Gmail (chrome.google.com/.../opdeoodggbccmpenpleeenkbhckopmpk) is a Chrome extension which allows to perform the most common CRM tasks directly from Gmail, such as tracking emails, working with activities and creating records and contacts.

    Hi Karth,

I am using Dynamics CRM online version but integrated my gmail account successfully. So, I have explained step by step procedure to configure email server profile and personal mailbox using GMAIL account. Please mark as suggested answer, if it helps.

    1.    To Start with Email Integrations, first we need to setup Mail Server Profile and Personal Mailbox Mapped with each and every CRM user.

To Configure Mail Server Profile -

“Email Configuration Settings” option is to configure all email related global settings.

    Enable Mailbox After Creation:

Note : A mailbox must be enabled and approved by admin to process emails.

Please mark my answer as verified, if it solved your query.

    Thanks

Hi Karthik, I know we're here a little late but we just released a new version of our Dynamics CRM Chrome extension which allows users to track emails from Gmail in Dynamics CRM, sync calendars, create and edit activities, and more. Feel free to try it out if you're still interested: chrome.google.com/.../opdeoodggbccmpenpleeenkbhckopmpk. -Jeremiah
