Financial Reports Unreliable

ReportReport

I was very excited about the robust reporting I would get from moving to Business Central and am very discouraged by my first results.

I created a report intended to show multiple months' PnL and some custom summary rows.

Results are unreliable and often wrong.

Here is just one example:

My Column Definitions:

I can confirm that my row definitions are "Net Change" and "Net Amount -no issues there...

OK, you can see row 103400 -January shows a positive $2500, March and July (forgot to mark July) show blank.

Yet, this is the GL Balance Data:

This is just one of several errors I've experienced and it's making it completely unreliable.  Disappointing.

Anyone have a similar experience or advice?

    Hello,

The method you are using is not sustainable, you wouldn't want to change the formula every month.

    1. Use "Comparsion Period Formula" for easier reading and maintenance. You may need to Personalize and pull this field out.

    2. Ensure the financial report date filter range is created in "Accounting Period".

    Namaste ,

Please review the link below for details on how financial reports should be configured.
We have implemented this approach in several cases, and it works well.

    Possible RCA for this issue
    1) Incorrect Row Setup
    2) Column Definitions
    3) Applied Filters
    4)Signs between period formulae
    5)Names of Rows

It really depends how did you setup, the data it shows is based on your configuration so you can't blame the product. I would suggest please contact the partner or expert in the financial in BC who can do the setup for you, or please review and learn how to do this in the below links
