Incoming documents

Hello, Everyone 

Today, we are using links to attach some documents into Business Central , I was looking to start using Incoming documents, I just would like to understand whats is impact to use this.  supposing we will store 5Gb documents per year? do you see any impact relating with performance?

    I dont you have any proformance problems as the are stored outside Business Central in another system

    Perhaps as dont know how. Big your company is, and 5 gb is relativ, you will have ti pay for storage, as the free limit is

    80 gb. For BC data in BC, and I dont know how much free space you have for external docs

    Space is not problem, my business central is on-premises, I'm just wondering if i store direcly into BC Database , i can have performance issues in the future.

    From Franz Kalchmair:

    yes, in the end it's stored in the db (blob field). so the performance of the system becomes more and more worse with many documents.

    to change that, you could customize the storage process to store files external on the file system or use a document management system.

    the easiest way with no customization of the store process would be a new batch job that exports the blob fields to the file system, then remove them from system storage.
