In the documentation, it appears that you can soft close a single period. That is, check it off as closed and then re-open as needed. However, I cannot see how to do this in the actual account schedule screen.

Can anyone tell me how this is done of if it cannot be done

Which localisation is this for?

In the case of GB once closed you can still post into that period providing the allow posting dates provide that. You can then re-run the close income statement to take the missed postings.

Dirk - it appears that what I was seeing was Italy localization. I expected similar functionality for US as that is what I have seen in most ERP systems where you can soft close a period and then re-open for adjustments and such

Can anyone tell me if there is a way to do that for US

Hi LB_Pgh,

Once you closed the period from the accouting period window the you will unable to open it. You can control posting dates from general ledger setup window, "Allow posting dates" you can set range of date on it to allow posting for all modules.
