in my case promised date is empty and so i m trying to set search criteria as not equal to 00/00/00 its not filtering the blank date

Which Smartlist? is this custom smartlist because no date means 00/00/00 in GP Date Fields.
This script could be used to change any date/datetime field into a format suitable for Microsoft Dynamics CRM or Microsoft Dynamics GP.

Actually, blank dates in GP are represented as 01/01/1900 since all date columns in every table are bound to the GPS_DATE default.

As Mariano said, the blank date is technically 01/01/1900, so any date greater that 01/01/1900 should give you the records you want.
