Are codeunits stored in SQL?

Hi,

We're using NAV 2017 as our ERP system. I have access to the Development Environment, but only with limited license. Of course, the limitations are quite frustrating, especially when you just want to review customizations.

I was able to lookup codeunits via debugger, but I heard it's possible to see them in the SQL database. Weirdly, I do have access to it, however, I can't locate them. If they are stored in SQL, then were I should look?

Thanks!

They are not stored in SQL.  You need to get license to access them or modify them.

Thank you for your answer. Are codeunits stored as a files then?

Yes, all objects are stored in the SQL database, but not in an easily retrievable way. So I don't think you will be able to easily retrieve them from SQL.

Eventually you have SQL Database behind so this way or the other everything in SQL but that doesn't  mean you can manipulate those from SQL end.

Thanks. I don't want to edit them, I'm looking for a way to view the codeunits or export them in bulk. I hoped that I could find those records somewhere in the SQL database.

This is not possible. Otherwise there will be a leak in Intellectual Property (IP) protection. Codeunit are stored as binary cyphered and compressed objects within the database.

    Thanks for the explanation.
