ReportReport
Posted on by 15,581

Hi

We have users that are using Macbook. They can use BC without any issue. But they cannot use Excel reports (such as Jet Report or Excel with ODATA). What solution you are suggesting to design similar reports for these users? We do not want them to use Windows VM or any other VM method to access Windows machine.

Thanks

I have the same question (0)

Hi, have you tried Excel on the web? As far as I know, on Mac OS, Excel on the Web can do more.

    PS: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/dynamics365/business-central/across-work-with-excel

    Hi Mr YUN ZHU

Thank you so much for that. I tried that but ODATA does not work for some reason on Excel online. it crash and does not populate the data.

    Thanks for your help.

Is Power BI worth a review? If the report is in the PBI service using the api/odata then you bypass the issue.

Failing that, given you can open in excel maybe writing specific reports in AL is necessary.

    Hi,

Excel for Mac does not have the functionality to import Odata.  Excel for Mac currently can import HTML, Text, SQL Server and other databases with OBDC.

Thanks Josh. Yes we reviewed Power BI but designing report in Power BI is more technical than it is necessary for simple report. I just wish we had something similar to Jet Report for Mac.

Thanks yohi for information. I hope MS adds ODATA to Excel for Mac.
