In offline mode, I know that Custom POS Buttons do not work.  However, we have two hooks setup for TenderBegin and TenderEnd.  They do not seem to work in offline mode.  Is that a restriction of Offline mode?  Since they are setup per register, not Manager, I was hoping...

thanks,

Mary

    Hi Mary,

POS buttons should work in offline mode assuming your offline db was setup properly. Hooks should definitely work as they are stored in the registry, not the db. If you would like I can get you some support with one of out technicians here.

This really depends on what the addin is doing at the time.  TenderBegin and TenderEnd could jus tbe modifying transaction data, which might work fine, but if it is trying to access the main database then it would not work without a programming modification.

So the questino is, when you installed the addin, were you asked for database access?  If you were then it probably wont work without source code changes.

What is the addin, and who provided.  You might want to contact them for an update.

OK, according to the RMS Offline documentations restrictions, Custom POS Buttons are not supposed to work.  However, contrary to this and my first comment, the button does work, but the hooks don't.

The code uses mySession.Database.OpenRecordset.  It doesn't reference the database name directly.  The two hooks check to see if one of the items was a gift card or one of the tenders was a gift card.  If so, pop up custom windows to ask for the gift card specifics.

BTW, I am the partner/reseller.  I was on PartnerSource and thought this was the Partner Community.  With the Microsoft Dynamics new website, I guess it crosses over.

    thanks,

    Mary

It really depends on how the addin is coded.  When you are writing an addin, you can check to see if the POS is offline or not.  Also the Addin might need to access the database to get specifics about the tenders you have defined, to perform the checks you mentioned.

I would have to see the source code to tell you have it works.

    Thanks
