Production raw material picking and RAF in D365fo with advanced warehouse

Hi All.

We are seeking to do a simple manufacturing process for a client.

We have advance warehouse enabled with only 1 warehouse and when we have not created any work templates for raw material picking or finished goods put away.

As client is not much interested to go ahead with that concept. We thought of using backflushing but system is not picking the material from stores - Non license plate controlled location and its throwing error during RAF that stock is not available but stock is available in Production location n also in Stores location.

Can any one help on this how to achieve backflush concept without the concept of the work templates.

Sharing couple of errors we are getting:

Error 1:

Item stock is not available even if the material exists,

Error 2:

Is this scenario not achievable by parameters change or am I doing any mistake ?

I have the same question (0)

    Good day,

Could you check the following parameters?

Backflush must use reserved quantities (warehouse)

    Picking requirements (item model group)

    Best regards,
    Laurens van der Tang

    Hi

If you do not wish to use advance warehouse picking for your production process than you need to make sure that the raw materials are moved and reserved on the input location of the resource on which the operation is scheduled.

I believe you have 'Resource consumption' check box checked for all BOM items. Please check and confirm

From the error message I can see that system is trying to create a work, and it is trying to create 'Finished goods put away' work as you are doing RAF to move reported items to warehouse.

Please define a work policy blocking creation of finished goods put away work. Make sure you to include locations where finished goods are reported (resource output location)

Define work policy like below and try again. Warehouse Management > Setup > Work > Work Policies

Btw what is your flushing principle for the item? 'Finish'?

    Hi Laurens,

    Thanks for your quick response.

Those parameters under warehouse master and also item model group to be enabled or disabled?

Is it compulsion to enable them to avoid such errors to pick the materials by back flush automatically without work templates being created? I m bit worried on item model group parameters as fee of them are non changeable n critical ones.

If yes I am looking for this interesting functionality also to do Report as finished.

    Thanks again.

    Hi Sagar,

    Thanks for your response too.

Let me check the functionality what you suggested but I am wondering why back flush doesn't work automatically in this case if we have advanced warehouse enabled.

Also on the second one why still we need to create dummy work template while we don't want to use them. It's weird to me as per the design.

Flushing principle is set as finish stage

    Hi,

From little what I can see from that error message is that system is trying to create finished goods work which is part of RAF logic for an advance warehouse.

So, we are not defining a dummy work template but a 'Work Policy' which tells system that in this legal entity never create works of type 'Finished goods put away'

After this work policy is set system will not make an attempt to create finished goods put away works, (In your error its clearly mentioned)

Try work policy and revert. If it still fails, then we need to look deeper into BOM and stock levels on prod in locations but in your last error message system reported no issues with all 3 journals. It reported work creation failed.

    Hi,

Consider following setups on the BOM item line level setup tab

Also you have to set this to partial or full reservation. Flushing principle =Finish

    Thanks,
    Rajashree

    Hi Rajshree,

    Thanks for your repsonse.

We have flushing principle as Finish in BOM line level and Allow partial reservation is already marked.

    Thanks.

    Hi Sagar,

I tried all the options said below, but i could see the issue fixing by adding work policies as never,

However now when i try to do RAF without posting picking list in start stage, I get the error for raw material which needs backflushing to have its location.

Unless i give the location for the raw material  in priduction bom line inventory dimensions - > location. its not allowing to do so.. Is there any way to avoid this to add location.

    Any insights on this please.

    Thanks.

    Hi

The new error points towards the default Production output location.

Can you confirm below is setup on the warehouse master.
