Item location assignment upon receipt – D365 (Location Directive)

Hello everyone,

I need your help with an issue in D365.

I have some parts that are not in the SMS, and I need to include them. I ran a test in prodcopy, but it didn’t work as expected.

What has been done:

  1. Created a new POOL for the purchase order, as we need to track this process.
  2. Verified that the Work Order Type should be Purchase Order.
  3. Analyzed the Work Classes.
  4. Created a Work Template.
  5. Configured a Location Directive.

After that, we performed the ASN and receipt, but the system did not direct the work to the desired location.

What we need:

When receiving the item, we want it to be allocated to a specific location within a predefined zone.

Expected Flow:

  1. PICKDoor.
  2. Custom.
  3. Print.
  4. PUT – Defined location for parts that are not in the system (e.g., zone 9030).

Question:
At what point does the system determine where the item will be stored? Is this tied to the purchase order type, or is there another determining factor?

I have the same question (0)

When items are received into the warehouse, the system will use the location directives and work templates to determine the appropriate put-away location. If these items are supposed to be in pickable locations you can use fixed pick locations to assign each item to a location. Or location stocking limits for assigning items to a zone.

    Good day,

When work creation is triggered, the system determines the location. This can happen in several ways; in your case, it occurs when you register an item.

    A few questions:
    • Which location is the system currently proposing?
    • Is it within the desired zone?
    • Could you share a few screenshots of the location directive?

    Best regards,
    Laurens van der Tang

    Hi,

To final put location is determined by the "Put" location directive for the work order type purchase orders.

Please note that the system evaluates the location directives in the sequence in which they are configured. )1,2,3 and so on)

So please check the put location directive. Basic things to check as below

If this does not help, please share your screenshot of the put location directive.
