End of Support for GP10

I believe the following is true, but if someone disagrees then please post.

1) GP2012 (GP12) is not released yet

2) Typically MS supports a version of GP until 1 year after the release of 2nd version newer.   Typical would be support GP10 for one year after release of GP2012.

3) FRx support is going away Sept 2012.

4) Management Reporter will NOT work with GP10.

Therefore by ending support for FRx, MS is actually ending the life of GP10 in Sept 2012.   Obviously the key statement above is item 4.

Am I seeing things right?

Warren

    1. Correct.  GP2012 (GP12) has not been released.

    2. Microsoft will provide a 2012 Year-End Update to all U.S. and Canadian Microsoft GP 10.0 Customers.  Microsoft will also provide Round 1 U.S. tax tables for the 2013 reporting year.  Following these releases, no additional code update will be released for Microsoft Dynamics GP 10.0, due to end of Mainstream Support in the Support Lifecycle for Microsoft Dynamics GP 10.0 (support.microsoft.com/lifecycle).  If you are currently using Microsoft Dynamics GP 10.0, you must upgrade to Microsoft Dynamics GP 2010 of Microsoft Dynamics GP 12 to receive any further regulatory and or code updates following the January 2013 Round 1 Tax Update.

I apologize but I cannot verify your last two inquires.

To your number 4, FRx  has been out for about 14 years, it is a pretty stable enviornment, once you get it up and working.  If you don't change your enviornment (64 bit) it will continue to work.  If you have the latest greatest SP's on FRx you should be able to run for quite a while.  And in reality they quit support  for FRx about a year ago, there have not been any SP's issued once MR came out as the new platform.  If you have issues they will continue to trouble shoot right now, but that is coming to an end.

MR is just like FRx in many aspects.  There are a couple of things that we would all like to see put into MR but what I'm finding is that it is a much stabler enviornment then FRx ever was and with currency translation issues I used to run into, I'm not anymore.

    Warren,

FRx for MBS customers follows the support lifecycle of the ERP. As long as GP10 is in extended support  you will be able to continue using FRx against GP10. Once you stop receiving payroll and extended updates to GP, it will likely make sense for you to upgrade GP and also upgrade to Management Reporter.

Other factors like 64-bit support and things may also factor in to you wanting to upgrade sooner, but you are able to continue using FRx for a few more  years. The Sept 2012 date does not apply to Dynamics GP customers.

    Thanks

    Ryan

    Ryan,

Thanks for the clarification that GP10 has it's own timeline and that FRx will continue to be supported for the life of GP10 (for GP10 users).    That was the item that was missing.

    Warren.

If I understood a previous post regarding Management Report, MR cannot run reports directly against Forecaster (even though FRx can) and there may never be a connection.  I have heard that MR may one day replace Forecaster, but until that time, I need the ability to run reports against Forecaster, which is why we will not be able to migrate to MR.  Our entire budgeting process relies on being able to run reports and make modification within Forecaster as we identify changes that are needed to the budget before it is finalized.  We cannot spend time dumping non-final data from Forecaster into GP in order to run reports, so we have to have the ability to run reports against Forecaster.  Maybe I misunderstood a post in a different thread, but I believe I am correct.
