Item Variant Code Changing Item Description on Sales Line – Need to Prevent This

In Business Central, I have implemented Item Variant Restrictions for customers to control which variants can be selected for specific items on sales lines. The restriction setup is working correctly — only allowed variant codes can be selected and the system validates it properly.

However, I’m facing an issue:

When I select a variant code on a sales line, the item description automatically changes to the variant's description, instead of retaining the original item description.

This is not the behavior I want. I would like the item description to remain the same as the base item description, regardless of which variant is selected.

Has anyone else encountered this, and is there a standard way to prevent the description from being overridden by the variant description? If not, is this something that would require a customization?

Thanks in advance for your help!

This is the standard behavior as the description is designed to inform the user of what the Variant is about.  If you want the Variant Description to be for the User, but a different description on the line, you could use the Item References to bring the description back to what was on the Item.  This doesn't require development, but it would require good data management to ensure nothing is missed.
