In Business Central, I have implemented Item Variant Restrictions for customers to control which variants can be selected for specific items on sales lines. The restriction setup is working correctly — only allowed variant codes can be selected and the system validates it properly.
However, I’m facing an issue: When I select a variant code on a sales line, the item description automatically changes to the variant's description, instead of retaining the original item description. This is not the behavior I want. I would like the item description to remain the same as the base item description, regardless of which variant is selected.
Has anyone else encountered this, and is there a standard way to prevent the description from being overridden by the variant description? If not, is this something that would require a customization?
Thanks in advance for your help!
Hi, good day I hope this can help you, and give you some hints.
