Fixed Assets Import with integration manager

When I import these with integration manager it does not assign the GL numbers.  When I go build a GL Posting batch is where I notice there are not GL Account numbers. when I manually enter one it does.  Is there a step I'm missing.

    Larry -

I typically use macros for Fixed Asset Import, which is like having the computer manually enter the assets for you. It stands to reason if, when entering a Fixed Asset, the accounts are assigned properly, then you're missing something in your integration.  I would suggest ensuring data is being imported for the the Asset 'Class ID' or 'Account Group ID' fields in Asset General Information Destination in Integration Manager.

    Larry,

This is a very cool solution to your problem. My question is, are you required to run this script after every Fixed Asset General Ledger Integration?

    Larry,

I thought you might. Were I you, I would create a macro to update the Class ID of each of your assets from their current value to another, and save. Then another macro to set them back to their original values and save.

In GP, when classes change, unless something actually changes, nothing gets updated. This should create the relationships between Assets and Accounts permanently, and eliminate the need to run this script.

It would also provide you an opportunity to develop your macro skills. Here is a link to a post I wrote on creating and running simple macros (this macro would fall into the simple category).

Always test macros in a test company, prior to deploying them in live ones.

It would take forever for a macro to update over 6000 records wouldn't it?

RE: Fixed Assets Import with integration manager

    Hi,

I have bumped into this before when importing Fixed Assets. If I assigned the Account Group to the Class (in Class Setup), the account imported with the asset. As far as correcting the ones that already exist, you could re-run an import - using the eConnect adapter (which is very fast), or go the macro direction. The macro wouldn't take all that long to run if you only have 6,000 records. You could also use SQL to update the tables directly with the proper account indexes. If you are not an experienced SQL person, I would not recommend this later option.

    Kind regards,

    Leslie
