Configuration Wizard crashes at startup

Hello,

on many Windows 10 maschines in my company it is no longer possible to configure the Microsoft CRM 2011 Outlook Client. By starting the Configuration Wizard it crashes with the error log shown below. It looks like that it will no longer works with Office 2016 and Office 2019, installations with Office 2013 still working. I know that the CRM Client 2011 is not supported for newer Office Versions, but bevor a few weeks there was no problem to configure the Client. I have tried to make clean installs, but without results. Are there any workarounds to fix that problem? Or is it possible to configure the CRM Client manually without the Configuration Wizard? Thank you.

    Hi,

What's the version of D365/CRM as of now?

    Was it upgraded recently?

I suggest you download the version of CRM/D365 For Outlook based on what's compatible with Outlook 2016 (16/32 bit) and the CRM version you have.

    That should solve your issue.

    Hope this works.

    Hi Priyesh,

we have CRM 2011 with Update Rollup 18 on our server.

We work on an update to Dynamics 365. In the meantime, we can not use the Microsoft CRM 2011 Outlook Client as described in my first post.

I don't know if we can use a newer client version if we have CRM 2011 on our server.

    Many thanks.

That KERNELBASE.dll error used to be common when there was incompatibility with Outlook 2016.

The CRM Outlook client should work with Outook 2016, but only after CRM 2011 Update Rollup 18, so double check you have the latest of the CRM2011 Outlook Client installers.

Depending on how different Outlook 2019 is, it *might* work with that, but I have never tried.

I don't know of a completely manual install method, but have a look at this article about installing without a internet connection where you install all the prerequisites manually, one of which might be causing your issue.

Not sure if this can help you but I'll write this anyway: Make sure that the machine has all updates installed. Even updates the WSUS blocked maybe (bypass it with the registry key if necessary). Do several restarts to be sure, that nothing is left. Check if all required Frameworks are installed on the machine. Specially  the Microsoft C++ Redistributable Software Package. (I had a issue with that last year and could not install the package).

EDIT: The Microsoft Visual C++ VERSION Redistributable(x32/x64) should be normally installed via the Windows updates. (can not remember exactly). In my case it was installed, but didn't worked. I had to remove it completely and install it again (I think it came over the windows updates). But the whole 'cause of it where missing windows updates.
