Dynamics 365 App for Outlook on Macs (Dynamics 9)

I have a client who has recently gone live with a Dynamics 365 CRM solution running on Version 1612 (9.0.0.3172) (DB 9.0.0.3172) online. They have a fleet of Macs and I intended to use the Dynamics 365 App for Outlook in order to sync email from Outlook (on the Mac) to Dynamics. During the specification process, I used the compatibility matrix (https://blogs.msdn.microsoft.com/crm/2016/12/13/dynamics-365-app-for-outlook-support-matrix) to confirm that this was all achievable.

I've since set the system up and learnt that in the rollout of Dynamics 9, the Dynamics 365 App for Outlook has been "set back" to be a preview feature and no longer supports Macs (https://docs.microsoft.com/en-gb/dynamics365/customer-engagement/outlook-app/deploy-dynamics-365-app-for-outlook). I have enabled the preview and pushed the app, it does appear in users' Outlook but gives an error. The error reads as "Error: AppforOutlookModule was not found, empty appId returned"

I have tried using OWA in both Chrome and Safari (on the Mac) and this did not work. The error show says "Sorry, something went wrong while initializing the app."

I've now got a client looking for the ability to link emails into Dynamics but I can't find a way to do this. I'd welcome any suggestions or insight when the D365 App for Outlook will support Macs (there's nothing I can see on the roadmap).

Thanks

David

I would definitely recommend opening a support ticket with Microsoft and getting an official word from them.  I'm also in a holding pattern for them re-enabling mobile offline with V9.

Please advise when you get a ticket for this as I have same issue here.

Thanks - we decided not to log a ticket as we thought we'd wait until v9 GA.

On some other partner forums there was a sense that this would likely be resolved when v9 became available for current D365 users to migrate to. I think the scheduling of this is now underway (as an option) with a target that this will likely begin happening in Feb. So we're waiting for Feb to see if the resolution of this is wrapped up in that process.

    Thanks

Wayne, Michael - have either of you made any progress with this? Our client is looking for an update and we don't really have anything to say.
