Receive certain PO into QA Location then Release from QA Location

Hi

In one of previous ERP system (it was not BC) that I worked with, we had a function that we could receive certain PO (vendor by vendor base , or item base , or etc) in QA location. Then we could release it from QA by going back to the same PO.

Does BC has such a function? We do not use Warehouse Module.

I mean I know we can create a QA location then point the PO to QA location but:

1) Someone needs to use Item Reclass journal to bring the part back to actual inventory.

2) QA location still consider part of inventory. But we do not want to see this item in inventory until passed QA.

Thanks

I have the same question (0)

If you're using lot tracking, you can block the lot.  You can then filter the item list to show only quantities that are unblocked or have an acceptable test quality.  Unfortunately, receiving goods from a PO will put the goods into inventory in BC.  It up to you to determine how the quantity to visible to users.  The steps you noted are the normal process.

    Hi David

Thank you. We do not use lot. Based on your experience which method is better

    1) To receive PO in QA location then QA and transfer to main location if it did not pass.

    2) To receive PO then if did not pass QA transfer to QA location?

If you should go for alternative 1 or alternative 2 is dependent of two things i think.

If most of the items pass the QA and there is a relatively short time between the time you receive items and do the QA then i would go for alternative 2.

Maybe you could also do the QA before you post the purchase receipt so if you need to put some items on the QA location you separate them out on your purchase order in separate lines ?

    Hi Inge

Thanks. This is item based decision. For example we buy Item A from 6 different vendors. Anytime we buy this item QA required. I was hoping that I can find a automated process that

    1) decides a location based on item (or sometimes vendor).

    2) make that item blind to inventory availability (like F&O), then easier process to release it from QA.

But looks like no out of the box method is available.
