Can CRM be used as a communication platform for sending SMS and Emails initiated from third party softwares

Greetings,

We have several non-Microsoft softwares being used for work purpose in our company. We would like to initiate SMS or email from these software. We are bringing in MS Dynamics CRM very soon. However I would like to know whether CRM can be used as a communication platform for sending these SMS and Emails. Meaning that in the background the communication will be sent via CRM but on the forefront will reside our company's other softwares. Is this possible? Can we fully utilize CRM's capabilities of communication? If yes, can you please shed some light how this could be achieved, coding/customization/web services?

    Hello Monica,

    Using the Workflow functionality of Dynamics CRM it is possible to send SMS from CRM Online. Refer these blogs: help.clickdimensions.com/sending-sms-messages-from-microsoft-crm-workflow

    Also By using Workflow you can send emails: www.powerobjects.com/.../sending-emails-via-on-demand-workflows-in-dynamics-crm

    Hi Varadarajan,

    Thanks for your response. I am aware that we can send sms/email from CRM. But my question is that the sending of the SMS/Email will be initiated from another software that certain users of the company use and CRM may not be even access by these set of users. Some code can still run in the background and make CRM send the sms/email. Is this possible? Basically use CRM as a bulk SMS tool, without the users even having access to it. Please know that CRM will be deployed for other users of the company.
