How to deploy canvas apps from dev to prod in a managed solution?

Hi,

I have created a Canvas App via Power Apps on our dev environment and put it in a solution to then patch as a managed solution to our prod environment.

But then i started thinking, the canvas app resides on the dev environment now so what will happen when I patch it to our prod environment? Will it automatically set it up with the right connections and install it on the prod environment? Or what is the correct procedure in this case?

Developing a canvas app on a sandbox environment and then vi managed solution get it out to the production environment?

Another interesting thought is that the canvas app itself has a connection to Accounts on the sandbox environment so here i have to in the app create a connection to the production Accounts instead?

seems like i'm doing this the wrong way!

thanks for any insight in this

best regards

Martin

    Hi All,

I found digging a bit deeper into the subject as long as you in the dev instance have added the Data Source Entities as Current Environment the app can be added to the solution and using managed patch to production environment and everything will hopefully work there as well.

I will do my first release of this to the production instance tonight so I will hope for the best.. I will comment my findings here.

    best regards

    Martin
