Editable Grids - Filtering Status Reason field causes error - Product defect?

We just upgraded to 8.2.1.1 and while testing editable grids, we came across this issue. Attempting to filter a grid by Status Reason for a Task, we don't get a predefined filter list but instead a filter interface where you have to enter text. Trying to enter the name of the Status Reason results in a conversion exception. This seems like a defect and fairly large miss on the part of Microsoft. Has anyone else encountered this or worked with Microsoft on the issue? If so can you share your experience?

    I am experiencing this same issue in 8.2.2.112

    Is there any way to resolve this?
