Sample Data - mixed with other test data?

Posted on by 685

Hi,

We have a DEV environment that already has lots of test data in various entities but none in the Case entity. We are soon to be launching the case functionality so to properly test beforehand I can either create dummy data manually or load Dynamics sample data.

Loading sample data seems easier but I wanted to check that if I want to remove it, will ONLY the sample data be removed or will it remove existing test data too? Will it cause any conflicts with existing data when either loading or removing?

Thanks,

Richard

    Hi,

Logically it should only remove thesample data which it installed, it won't remove your test data, you can keep backup of your test data by exporting it, you can also keep  backup of your crm organization.

    Hi Richard,

Are you using online environment? if yes, make sandbox crm environment using dev clone and test feature there and then fix and update production using sandbox. That's best way to do testing using online crm.

On premises, take database backup and deploy using diff organization name and test there. But you need to do all changes in solution package and then export and import solution on production.

    Thanks,

    Sandeep
