Why do some companies reside in separate databases, instead of the same database?
Is it best to place a company in a separate database, if that company is different from the other companies due to differences in currency, fiscal year structure, and chart of accounts structure?
There can be several reasons why you want to separate companies into different databases if you are running Business Central on-prem.
The most common reason is if you have companies that will not run on the same code bases or need different customizations.
Another reason can be the size of a company. If you have a very large company then you might want to split them into different databases.
If you run different local currencies in companies they will probably need different localizations and they you will have to run them in different databases.
Chart of accounts, fiscal years and stuff like that is just data so those aspects does not require separate databases.
