Card Holder Name is not able to be added to the Receipt. Also this is not required information for the receipt or credit card slip.
So what problem are so trying to resolve with adding card holder name to the receipt? maybe this can be resolved another way.
Hello Ed,
Thank you for your reply.
Just before we started processing CC on RMS we had stand alone unit that was printing this info on merchant copy under signature line.
We did not think this was a problem until processor returned few transactions several days after it was processed for the reason that card was declined. They requested us to reprocess it. We have many regular customers and only way we could identify this customer is by name, but name was not printed on our signed copy. There was no way for us to recover that amount. Fortunately it was for small amount, but we want to insure we have this in case of large ticket item. This is why we want to have this option available, just like most credit card machines have it.
Thank you.
If declined, how was transaction charged to a credit card to begin with?
Cardholder name is read off the card when swiped with a terminal, but this information is not captured in RMS.
You could enable "Require customer selection" in Manager, File, Configuration, Customer options. All receipts would then show a customer name. If adding and selecting an account for every sale is a bother, create a customer account called "Walk In" with code 0000000 and assign that to incidental sales.
If the transaction was recorded in batch, you can run Manager, Reports, Miscellaneous, EDC Detailed report, locate the transaction by last four digits of card and date range, then double-click on Trans# to view the receipt in the journal.
It was AMEX card. It went thru with no issues at first. five days later we received a letter from card processor that this AMEX card was declined and that we need to rerun this card again. We were unable to do this without knowing customer name. If we had this info, there is a grater chance we could locate the customer.
Since RMS is not capturing this info, than how would "Walk In' profile help? All those receipts will show customer name as "Walk In".
I should probably switch to stand alone terminal or replace RMS at some point. I am really fed-up with RMS and all the limitations it has.
I was warned about it and did not listen. Plus all the add-ons if you need any efficient function.
Thank you for your help.
Capturing and saving any card data is not considered PCI compliant at this point.
If you lookup that transaction in the EDC Detailed report does it list a proper Approval Code entry?
Have you tried contacting TSYS to verify the transaction was approved and settled properly?
Do you settle the batch nightly?
Is it possible a cashier manually entered the card number and bypassed the approval process?
You are correct. Approval code is was not correct/Incomplete digits. I just checked again and looks like cashier processed this card manually.
Thanks again for your help.
