Using a custom price list entity

Posted on by 37

Hello,

I am facing an issue of having to use a custom entity to replace price list as our company needs to use products as services and products. We have different types of prices per service( up-to 4). As the Price List and Price Items are managed and have only one price per product I decided to use a custom entity call "Product Price".

Now I am facing the issue of adding Opportunity product and Quote Product using my custom entity. Can any of you experts help me with a way to replace this custom entity for price list and add the opportunity products based on the new price entity?

Thank you heaps in advance

The products you added to opportunity product, did they belong to a price list (maybe default)? (even though you didn't select the pricelist item)

    Hi,

I have tested the october release and also the opportunity changes. It worked as expected for me i.e. I could add opportunity products without having to select the pricelist.

This invalid Argument could be relate to some other problem.

    Hi Ravi,

Thank you. I want let you know that I got the early access to the new version. Can I please know if you have used the new update? I am able to add the products to Opportunity product straight but i get "Invalid Argument" Error code: 0x80040203 when trying to save. Would love to know if you are aware of this issue?

    Thank you

You will have to select the out of box pricelist so was thinking how about setting some default pricelist and while adding the products, select it from all pricelist items (and not only from the opportunity pricelist).

    Hi Ravi,

Thank you for the reply. I saw about the release but our project may need to go ahead before that and we still may prefer to maintain a price entity (custom) and leave product to save only the product details. Would prefer to hear if you are aware of any other ways.

    Thank you

    Hi,

At the moment, pricelist is mandatory to select on opportunity however with the coming october release, pricelist is no more a required field so you can then use your custom entity without anu issues. I would suggest to wait for october release instead of building or changing now.

    Hope this helps.
