Increase CompanyId size

Hi community,

i’m a new developper in dynamics 365. And i have a question for you guys. Is it possible to increase companyId size in Dynamics 365 ? If yes, what are the risks assosiated to that.

Hi S@moket,

Yes you can increase the company size - You have to extend the EDT and increase the string size.

But why do you want to increase the string size?

Currently it will allow up to 4 characters which will have 9999 possibility. Also you have name of the company which will differentiate form all the other companies.

I don't know about the risk associated with this when you increase the company size.

Hi,

Before you change the size, please check the company size in all the journal lines where company and offset account is autu filled up.

Also, check if any report filter has any limitations in company sized.

Hi Girish. Thanks for your answer.Yes I know. The thing is in my company, we use a system on which the company id is coded in more than 4 characters and the ldea is to harmonize that. But for me it’s too risky to change the length of this field as it’s a system field and the impact can be very dangerous for the stability of the system.
