How to hide specific navigation buttons from users

I'm trying to hide certain extensions from the navigation pane from the Users but still make it accessable for the Admins. I have read that you can remove things from the navigation pane by editing the site map xml; however, wouldn't that remove it completely? I'm thinking it will be a permissions customization but I can't seem to find where to do that. I just switched to CRM 2013.

Thanks!

If I understand correctly, you could check the Sitemap Editor from Xrm Toolbox: xrmtoolbox.codeplex.com. With this tool, you don't have to change the xml directly. On each navigation button (SubArea), you can set Privileges.

    Hello Jeannie88,

I suggest you to use Ribbon Workbench (Scott Durrow's tool) to modify the Ribbon, Commands and more things!
