Product configuration models available in CE?

Good day

Does anyone know if Product configuration model is available in CE through dual write? My client sells configurable products from CE and then it's sent to F&O for processing. I would like to see the product configuration functionality in CE when capturing a sale?

Hi Andreas. Thank you so much. Do you know if I create configuration ID if the prices will also populate in CE? Does the price models also migrate to CE with the PC?

Hy Jean,

the product configurator has not only the modell definition tables but also a lot of biusiness logic behind the User Interface. This logic is not availabe within the CE environment, so the PC can not be used within a CE app.

But you could create a custom security role in FO to grant an user only access to Create a sales Quotations and a Product configuration for a product. After finalizing the modell you can use the quotation or even only the configured product and configuration ID to be be used within the CE apps.

It can pass the variant configurations, but it creates these in CE as an individual product per combination. The true "configurator" due to the logic, I believe, is not available through Dual Write which really means the configuration model is not available in CE. You would need to build the logic in CE and then send the final configured product to FO for processing, aligning to any pre-build configuration reference to get all of the elements correct on the FO side to impact BOM etc.

Hi Mohit. I can't see anything on Product configuration models? I see attributes and dimensions and configurations are in the model but not sure if the functionality is in CE because you need some funcionality with setup when working with config models for a product

Note from article:

The dual-write table maps for products have been designed to flow data one-way only, in near-real time from finance and operations apps to Dataverse. However, the product infrastructure has been made open to make it bi-directional if required. Although you can customize it, it's at your own risk, as Microsoft doesn't recommend this approach.
