Salesperson code

When we add salesperson code under general on a sales order, and the choose a customer. the salesperson code goes back to being blank. 
Is there a way we can add the salesperson code first and for it to stay that way? even if we add or change customer?

    There are several places where you configure the salesperson code, by which it automatically brings you a value. I don't remember any configuration that prevents this.

    When customer is selected, the salesperson from customer or related contact is automatically populated in Sales order.
     
    You will have add code to skip updating salesperson code when customer / contact is validated.

    Out of the box its not possible. Changing the customer triggers changing the salesperson code. If you wanted to have this feature it would have to be customized.

    Is it a bug or a feature?
     
    Since update to 25.0 we've noted that salesperson code will always be replaced (order header) with salesperson related to user. Before, on last version, the behaviour was, that BC always take the salesperson code from customer card.

    I believe its been the case for a few versions now - if a customer's card has a default salesperson code, it will automatically populate on the order. If the customer card does not have a salesperson code, the system will instead use the salesperson code assigned to the user in the user setup page
